How to Battle Depression

Normally I don't do this on a social media platform, if ever, but considering my circumstances I thought I would give this a try.

I am depressed.  It is severe to the point of massive chest pains that leave me immobile for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.  Breathing is very difficult because my chest feels too heavy.  My personality and attitude is a roller coaster.  Emotionally I sink so low that I think being run over by a semi truck would be better.  I am NOT suicidal though...

My parents, who I currently live with and am on insurance with, acknowledge that I am depressed.  However, they do not believe in medication for depression.  My mother thinks it would be good for me to get blood work done, but will not even consider a CAT scan, MRI, or EKG just to make sure I am okay.  Since my problems are stress related, they do not believe going to the doctor will really do me any good.  I have considered going to a counselor at college, but I don't think that is a can of worms I am prepared to deal with.  Nights are worse than days, but if a night was particularly bad, the pains carry over.

Nevertheless, I am battling to keep my chin up.  What are different ways that you deal with depression?  Are there any tips that you can give me?  They would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you can see a therapist? :heart: Depression is a physical problem, but i believe the solution is somewhere in your brain and heart; your mental health is not at its best :heart: Medicins may work, but its not usually the final solution. But seriously, if you think you are physically ill, go to the doctorand get treatment  no matter what your parents say! if they really love you, they should do anything in their power to make sure you are ok; it doesnt matter what they believe in or not :heart: I really care about you, feel free to write if you need it :heart:
